Annette's lungs felt as though they might give out on her, her blood pounding so hard in her ears that she was seeing spots. She all but collapsed to the floor, her legs physically giving way beneath her as her body screamed out in protest against the constant exertion.
Outside, the Hunters clamoured for their prey, and the thick metal which kept them at bay suddenly didn't seem so sturdy. This was quite literally a dead end, and sooner or later, there was going to be a bloody battle.
"Right...weapons..." she coughed out, blinking away the black shadows at the edge of her vision. She put a hand on the wall to steady herself, to get up and arm up, to prepare for yet another fight to the death. But her limbs absolutely refused to comply, her body terrifyingly resolute in its unwillingness to take any more punishment.
And for what? So they could have the fun of carrying on a little longer, only to be killed by something bigger and uglier?
"I can't..." she looked up at the two men and shook her head. "I can't do this anymore."

Jill remembered everything from that day. It played in her head for the billionth time: grainy, like an old movie. She remembered the sting operation with Chris, confronting Wesker, the fight that ensued and her ex-captain's inhuman strength, the sound of shattering glass . . .
Jill must have blacked out at this point. When she woke she was lying on a cold, metal table, staring down at her own pale skin. Though groggy, her mind tried to figure out how in the hell she had managed to survive. After all, even a woman in her postion - naked, freezing, severally impaired - could understand that a mile-high fall into subzero waters and jagged rocks surely meant death. How was she still alive?
And better yet, why was she still alive?
The woman's eyes were in the process of focusing when she noticed the strange device that had been drilled into her chest.
She brought up her hand to touch the thing. That is, she had told her hand to lift up and touch the thing. It wouldn't obey. She tried to cry out, but her body was perfectly petrified. She struggled, strained, and instructed her limbs to commence thrashing, but Jill realized in horror that her body would not move . . .

Jill was a disembodied voice in an empty shell. No matter how she screamed, how she cried - even when the she exerted every ounce of willpower to control her body - it was a lost cause. Without a "master" to pull her strings, the brunette was nothing more than a limp marionette.
Speaking of "master". . .
Jill realized early on that Wesker was not so easy to kill. Though he suffered the same fall she had, the one that should have killed them both in an instant, it was obvious that Jill's current state was Wesker's doing. He had rigged some sort of mind-control device that rendered her completely submissive to his commands, and though he referred to her fondly as his "assistance," she thought a better term might be "slave."
Jill stared at her old captain with disgust and only weakly tried to figure out what was going on. He had brought her to an unfamiliar place to chat with an unfamiliar man. Though the guy (Jill heard him introduce himself as "Irving") had the impression of cocky, small-time criminal, he would have to be up to something huge to be in Wesker's social circle.
All of the sudden Jill felt her legs carry her toward a metal case in the center of the room. Before she knew what she was looking at she felt herself nod and slip back to the outskirts of the room as silently as she had come.
What was the hell WAS that? she snapped. And what are Wesker and Rat-face over there trying to cook up?
Jill faltered.
And what's MY part in this so-called plan?
“. . . hard to come by these days, isn’t it?“ she heard Wesker say, snapping out of her momentary delusion. “She has expertise in the field since the first days of bioweaponry in ’98 and she’s as loyal as a dog. I choose my company well, Mr. Irving, and I hope my senses haven’t fooled me in your regard either.“
She snarled.
When I get out of this you're a dead man, Captain.
When Wesker finally signaled for her to come to him, she obeyed, fighting each step like a defiant child.

The reunion should be fairly swift seeing as she's gonna have Mr X after her skin! Or were we going to have them encounter Nemisis? It was one of the two I'm sure.

And they don't have to split up, they could always meet up and have chris and carlos vie for Jill's affections. Example:
Chris: I brought you flowers! Carlos: I brought flowers AND chocolates! Chris: Yeah?! I brought those and Nemesis' head! What did you get? Carlos: Anti virus. Totally trumps that thing anyday of the week. Chris:...Damnit.

I have a nagging feeling that Jill and Chris are going to split up for some reason. After all, Jill needs to meet up with Carlos sooner or later, right? Hmm, if I catch you guys on IM we can talk about it :)

They ran. Though, eventually, so did the large monster behind them. Claire’s heart was thumping fast, and though she could only hear him for now, she tried her very best to run even faster to get as far away from it as possible. When she and Steve reached the stairs that led to the floor below, the little girl screamed, and Claire hurried over to the railing, watching the terrifying scene that occurred by the foot of the stairs.A zombie was standing close to the child, too close, but when Claire raised her gun to help her, the giant monster appeared again. This time, it didn’t seem to care about Claire and Steve, his dark eyes instead fixed on the girl.
Before they had enough time to react, the monster stepped onto the railing and fell down as it broke, falling right on top of the zombie, crushing it completely. Claire shouted at the girl, telling her to run, to get away, but the monster had already thought out the next step of its plan. It grabbed the child with one of its enormous hands, holding her close to his horrible face, studying her.
Claire’s thoughts were racing. She knew that they had to do something, anything, to save the terrified girl, but she didn’t dare shooting at it, in case she’d somehow hit her instead. As she deperately tried to figure out what to do, Steve grabbed a lamp, throwing it at the monster. The lamp hit its head, the glass breaking into several small pieces, flying off in different directions. The monster turned its gaze at them, and for a split-second, Claire actually believed that it’d let go of the girl.
Though, she couldn’t be more wrong. Steve shouted at her to duck, to get out of the way, as a cabinet thrown by the monster was flying straight towards them both. And Claire wasn’t planning on getting smashed, so she jumped out of the way, landing on the hard floor. The cabinet broke against the wall behind them just seconds later. Making that monster angry clearly didn’t make things better.

Um... Since "A New Acquaintance and Another Nightmare" is far from finished (and right now, it's kinda difficult to do anything about that) I agree with Chaed that a time-jump is the best idea *nods* And when Steve and Sherry comes back, we can continue with the now half-dead thread.

Missed you a lot!! It's GREAT to see you again!! Really, lovely and great to have you back!
Anyway, for you Jilly, since you haven't been around for a while and have asked for some help in the points where all of us are at the moment in PM, I have compiled a quick synopsis of where everybody currently is in the main plot-line on every thread here.
Chris/Jill:- Still recuperating in Jill's apartment after their ordeal in their search for Claire.
Kevin R./Cindy:- They have separated from Claire at the RPD, after their trek through the chaotic streets outside in the city, and are most likely heading for the nearest evac-point.
Claire:- Concerned for her brother's well-being in the midst of the horrific outbreak that has swarmed the city, she has set off to explore the RPD for information on his whereabouts; along the way, she has teamed up with Steve Burnside, whom is searching for his father, and encountered Sherry Birkin, hiding in the overrun police station as she waits for her parents, but they have also ran into Mr X, in his pursuit of the G-Virus.
Barry & co.:- After their struggle to escape the hordes of undead in downtown Raccoon City, the group have split up to search the RPD for signs of where their friends might be; Barry, following a near encounter with a Licker, and Richard, having found nothing to indicate any worthwhile leads where Chris and Jill are, attempt to regroup with Alyssa and Kevin, still searching the city; instead, they find Marvin Branagh, in critical condition from a wound he sustained in organizing an evacuation effort and escorting civilians to safety, and stumble across David King, a mechanic trying to seek refuge in the 'safety' of the RPD. Deciding that the station is too dangerous to stay any longer than necessary and that Marvin needs immediate medical attention, they opt to head for the nearest evac-point at the Raccoon Fire Department, but Alyssa and Kevin Dooley are still unaccounted for, thus they wait for their return, whilst arguing on the notion of who should go search for them.
Leon/Ada:- With no luck finding John Howe in the RPD as part of Ada's cover, she decides to continue her mission and heads into the sewers in order to reach the entrance leading to Birkin's research facility underneath the city, under the guise of using the vast tunnel network to escape the city limits past the National Guard's quarantine; however, reluctant to let her venture through the sewers alone as the dangers of the T-Virus run rampant, Leon accompanies her into the tunnels, much to Ada's irritation, whereupon they spot the presence of a large creature dwelling in the sewage system.
Wesker/Birkins:- Having treated Wesker's involuntary and severe reaction to the Anti-BOW systems installed in the lab complex, the group continue their plan to use the chemical-disposal railway lines to escape the city on board the armored-evacuation train parked there on the platform and travel through the corridors to reach the lower levels, trying to avoid confrontations with the Hunter-Class BOWs stored in the labs. However, William, anxious to find and rescue Sherry, wishes to head for the RPD instead and search for her, much to Wesker's chargrin whom refutes the idea, sparking a fight between the two. But, after an encounter with the G-BOW that was once Monica Wooden, William leaves the group to head for the RPD whilst Wesker and Annette (albeit reluctantly and with great sorrow on her part) continue to reach the train, accompanied by the biologist expert Frederic Downing, whom attempted to escape with the case of samples that Wesker had collected and is travelling with them after a rather bitter reunion for them all, and pursued relentlessly by the Hunters that have escaped confinement.
Rebecca/Billy:- Having treated Billy's wounded leg from the destruction in the streets outside, the pair hurry to escape from the desolate hospital as they are hunted by the remnants of Dr Marcus' leech colony, the insect swarms having formed constructs with the corpses of the hospital staff. With Rebecca's knowledge of the hospital's layout, the pair unlock the entrance to the sewer system and manage to secure an escape route via a small motor-boat moored on a dock that connects the BOW-development labs underneath the hospital to the primary facilities where William Birkin conducts research into the G-Virus; but, even thouh the pair escape the hospital into the sewers, they are ambushed by the Hive of Marcus' leeches that have made their nest within the tunnels and are forced to fight against the Queen Leech that had nestled in the tunnels after her escape from the mansion in the woods, whom seeks vengeance against the people responsible for their father's death.
UBCS:- In accordance with the protocols instigated by the Umbrella Corporation in regards with the outbreak within Raccoon City, Protocol BRAVO-16 has been put into effect by Lord Spencer, CEO of Umbrella, and Colonel Sergei Vladimir, Supreme Commander of Umbrella's Forces operating in Raccoon City, and the UBCS Delta Platoon has deployed its squads into the city. However, a mere few minutes after Bravo Squad is dropped into Victory Park, the squad comes under attack from the infected civilians and the rest of the platoon rushes to the scene to offer support as casualties start to rise.
Well, Jilly, that should be at least an overall idea of where all the characters are in the outbreak and what their situation is for all of them.

When the bold letters 'SECURITY' finally came into view, the Hunters had almost caught up with them. Downing was the first to leap inside the room, after him Annette and then finally Wesker. He put all his force into slamming the door shut, ramming the locks into place.
From outside, the Hunters were pounding against their newest obstacle.
"The door won't hold forever," Wesker said, wiping some drops of sweat from his forehead. "And I Imagine they won't walk away another time. We should search the room for anything useful, and that fast."
And hope that we find enough firepower to take down those beasts.
