OK guys, here we are, we all know what it feels to play Resident Evil in the total darkness of a room in the middle of the night with the speakers set as loud as they can handle just to scare the Hell out of us at the very slightest noise...
How many times we've been wondering around places crowded with zombies and creatures of all shape trying to kill us in every corner...
But in this nightmare we knew we could count on something special, something that could resolve all problems with the proper skills... Weapons! From guns to rocket launchers.... Let's have a closer look on our precious allies.

Here there's a list of all the common weapons used in Resident Evil with a little description.... enjoy!

HANDGUNS


  • Beretta F92 “Samurai Edge”: It's the Beretta F92 standard with reinforced barrel derived from the military model. In our case, we can consider it a common 9X19 Pistol. it has to be said that should you find some 9X21 ammo, you can use them with no problem. It's a very reliable semi automatic handgun and doesn't weight much, has a 15 rounds clip and can carry 15 rounds plus one in the barrel.

  • Beretta 93R: Very rare pistol, basically is a Beretta F92, but is modified by the factory to shoot 3 rounds with a burst selector. This handgun has a 20 rounds clip and can carry 21 rounds if fully loaded, it uses the 9X19 Rounds or the 9X21 if needed.

  • Sig Sauer P228: Basically is the same of the Beretta, it uses the same type of ammos and has a 15 rounds clip.

  • Glock 17: This is one of the most useful handguns ever. It uses the 9X21 (or 9x19) bullets and since it’s made of plastic, it’s really light and easy to use. It uses the 15 standard clip, but it’s easy to find bigger clip that fits 20 rounds.

  • Colt Phyton .357 Mag: This is a very powerful revolver, that uses .357 Magnum rounds. It's quite heavy but it's much more precise than any semi automatic handgun in RE. It's quite reliable but you have to be a good shooter to fully appreciate its potential. It carries 6 rounds and you can use a speedloader in a similar way of a clip for a semi automatic handguns.

  • Colt Anaconda: It's a 44 revolver, basycally it's the same as the .357 but it's heavier and less well balanced, it's pretty difficoult to shoot with this gun because it's very powerful.

  • Desert Eagle .50: The desert Eagle is the most powerful gun in the game. It’s a semi automatic handgun that uses the .50 rounds and can carry 7 rounds in the clip plus one. It’s easier to use than the .44 revolver but it still requires expert hands!!

  • Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Mag: Well… it was Inspector Callaghan's favourite weapon, so you ‘re cool with that! It can be loaded with 6 .44 rounds.

  • Luger P08: What an awesome weapon! but you really have to cure that a lot because it’s really delicate, and definitely it’s not the right weapon for an outbreak…. Anyway it uses the 9mm luger bullet and can be transformed also in a rifle… but uses 8 rounds clip, and they are almost impossible to find in an infested city…but maybe somebody like Alfred could have plenty of them….

  • Colt .45 mod 1911: Stranger, Stranger, now that’s a Weapon!! it’s a semi automatic handgun that uses .45 rounds and has 7 rounds clip, and in the right hands, this is the most useful gun to kill a zombie! You don't need to be an excellent shooter, but if used by common people it'd be a real waste of ammo.



SHOTGUNS


  • Remington 870: It’s a very common pump action hunting rifle, it uses the 12 gauge shells and can be loaded with 7 rounds, it’s easy to find ammo and can be really useful even if used by ordinary people.

  • Benelli M4 Super 90 (M1014): It’s a sawn off semi auotmatic gas operated shotgun used by almost every police dep. all over the world. Even if it’s much shorter than most of the normal shotguns, it can carry 7 rounds and it’s really useful in close combat situation (like labs, hospitals and places like that). It has a weaver rail so it can use some special equipment like red dot scope and whatever you may find!

  • Franchi SPAS 12: It’s the most useful shotgun of all! It’s a 12 gauge shotgun, it can be used in semi automatic mode or pump action, it’s quite heavy but it’s shorter than a common shotgun, it can carry from 8 to 9 rounds (depends on the cartridge), since it’s made for the Army and Police Dep. It has a weaver rail like the Benelli M4.



ASSAULT RIFLES


  • AK 47: It’s the most popular assault rifle ever, it uses the 7,62 bullet, and it’s definitely the most reliable rifle you can find. It’s very powerful and it’s quite easy to find his ammo around the city, or military facilities. It uses 30 rounds magazines and fully loaded can carry 31 rounds. It has the possibility to shoot in single action and fully auto. However, over 150m it isn't precise at all.

  • M4 A1: It’s the short version of the popular M16 A2, it’s a really precise rifle but not too useful against zombies because it uses 5.56 Nato cartridge that are lighter (this means that you can carry more of them) but less powerful, but if it used by someone with skills, it’s definitely the best choice. It can shoot in semi automatic or full auto and uses a 30 rounds magazine.

  • H&K MP5: The most popular machine pistol used by the Police, it uses the 9mm cartridge (9X19 or 9x21 rounds) that are the same rounds of most of the handguns.
    You can easily find ammo.
    It’ s very light, compact and it’s made with plastic… the "N" version can shoot underwater. It uses 30 rounds magazines, and can shoot in semi automatic, three rounds burst, and full auto. It’s definitely one of the best choices to survive in Resident Evil.

    SNIPER RIFLES



[*]Remington 700BDL: It's a bolt action sniper rifle, it's pretty common and it's used mainly by hunters. It's a very precise sniper rifle and the choice for this rifle should be the .270 Winchester cartridge.
It can have different magazines capacity, from 3 to 6 rounds so with a six rounds capacity mag you will have maximum 7 rounds. you can find ammo in any weapons shop.


[*]H&K SL8: It's a semi autmatic sniper rifle based on the H&K G36, it's not precise as most of the sniper rifles but it's compensated by its handling, it uses Remington .223 5,56 Nato rounds (the same of the M-4) and uses 10 rounds capacity magazine. Fully loaded can hold 11 rounds.


GRANADE LAUNCHERS


  • M79: It’s a grenade launcher that was developed during the Vietnam war, it can use all kind of 40mm grenadeS but you can only shoot one round per time, then you have to open it and put another one inside…since it’s made in wood, it’s quite heavy but it’s much smaller than the Revolver Launcher.


  • Revolver Launcher: Is the one that Claire use in RE2…
    It can be loaded with all kind of 40mm grenade, explosive, napalm, smoke, tier gas, Anti B.O.W (why not!).
    It can be loaded with 6 40mm grenade, but that’s a very heavy and big weapon... but it can be useful sometimes!!



ROCKET LAUNCERS


  • RPG: It’a very simple rocket launcher without any guide system that shot a sigle rocket that has to be put in front of it. It’s quite common but since Raccoon city is not actually a war zone…. I don’t think you will find it there….
    Anyway, it’s powerful enough to blow up several zombies but hasn’t enough explosive to blow an armored car (so it’s pretty useless against a tyrant I think).
    This Rocket launcher it's pretty light and you can carry 4 rockets easely by putting them into a bag behind your back.

  • Javelin:Since all the rocket launchers in the RE saga do not exist in the real world… this is my RL suggestion.
    This rocket launcher is developed to be used by a man (better two). It has a guided missile but you have to be careful. You can’t use it if you have somebody you don’t want to kill behind you. It has to be used outside and not too close to the target because the rocket will go up in the sky for 180 meters before coming down against the target.
    The good thing is that once you fired, the missile will fly to the target all by himself, giving you time to change position… and of course, if it can penetrate 800mm of armor, it means that it'll turn your tyrant in plenty of T-meat balls….
    By the way, it’s not a good idea to throw it from a helicopter…
    One more thing: a single rocket weights more than 22Kg, and this Rocket launcher can only shoot once, then it has to be reloded. You have to be very strong to carry it along with its Rockets and since it can be divided into several peces, it's a good idea if two guys carry the main body, and another character carries a Rocket


AMMO


The choice of the right bullet to put in your weapon can save your life and create much more damage against zombies and suchlike, so let me give you some tips to not waist too many bullets…

Use hollow point bullets to kill zombies, you can recognize them if they have a hole in their points or if the point is flat, or has the shape of a star on it. These bullets are useful because after penetrating the target, they will expand in it and create much more damage, and even if you don’t kill it, you'll surely send him flying away for several meters… Careful though! They don't work at all if the zombie is an UBCS or a Police officer who's wearing an armor… if that's the case, you'll have to hit the head to stop them. And they’re pretty useless against creatures like hunters too, so be careful!!

For the shotgun there are basically two useful bullets…. The Slug and the 00Buck
The Slug is a more precise and powerful because it’s a single bullet and can go much farther then the 00Buck and is perfect to kill hunters, lickers and stuff like that.
The 00Buck is useful when you’re surrounded by zombies because the cartridge is actually made with 9 .38 bullets, but you have to shot them at close range.

For the assault rifle rounds there aren’t many problem, they are powerful enough to kill any creature and they can penetrate the armor of ”military” zombies as well.

Hope it turns out useful during the outbreak. Should there be any mistake or want further detail on other weapons, just tell me. ;D

Very nicely done! I have a Remy 870 myself, and it's a very reliable shotgun. I prefer Italian made, but a two shot break action 686 wouldn't be very good in a zombie outbreak.

Wow, you really are a "gun master"...
I know absolutely nothing about the guns in the games. I just know that my favorites were the Riot Gun and sniper rifle in RE 4 :3

This is quite useful. I usuallt just call guns in an RP or FF what they call them in the game. Like Ada's 'Blacktail'

Not sure why they do that. I bet it's because of acquiring the name license or something. Some games have official names, others don't. Still others split it 50/50. Like in Perfect Dark Zero, and MP-5 was called a DWP-5, or a TMP was called a CMP.

I guess it is the whole 'name license' thing.

Apparently, in Resident Evil 5, all the guns are real and called by the real name.
